Day 7

Nothing but sunshine and dry roads! Oh and traffic. Rode the highway 1 along the coast today to just south of Santa Barbara. What a ride with amazing views of the coast! The sunshine came out more and more as we headed south. Then the temps got up near 30! There were huge Elephant sea lions sunning on the beach. The ride is amazing with the smells of nature. First with the hay crops in Idaho, to the wet cedar smell of the Red wood forest, to the ocean breezes, and most unique was the smell of the strawberry fields as we rode by along the California coast. Palm trees line the boulevards. Motorbiking is sure the way to experience the country!! Tonight we are camping at McGrath State park. We will be up early again. Only 80 miles to Long Beach and the golden coast. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad Location: Oxnard, California, United States
Were leaving San Francisco, cause this city is hard on my clutch! Everywhere you turn there is a very steep hill to climb. But on the other hand this city is very unique and interesting. We went for a ride up to a lighthouse where the military use to have posts to watch the bay. The ruins are still there to see. Then in the afternoon we had to do the cable car ride to downtown. Rode the steepest road then the windiest roads. It was awesome. Rode over the Golden Gate bridge a couple of times. That could get costly at $6.00 a trip over and back. Had a fantastic crab supper at Joes Crab Shack with some unique margarita drinks. Off to ride the coastal highway again today with no rain or fog! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad Location: San Francisco,United States

Wow...what a day of riding!

I'm not sure how I can put this...........RAIN...RAIN.....RAIN.....AND MORE RAIN then FOG and more FOG!!!! Pretty much the whole day...RAIN!!! Woke up in the rain, rode in the rain and now in a hotel room drying out our goods! But were in San Francisco!! Heading out on the town with a CAB! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad Location: San Francisco,United States

Day 4

Day 4- Went for an early breakfast at the marina. Watched the lake and boats as we had coffee in the bright blue sunshine. Rode on over 2 mountain passes toward the California coast. Found a road that was newly paved, only one lane up over a mountain that was twisty and lonely. Only met 2 bikers and 1 truck for 50 miles. Then we fought traffic on a windy highway where the speed limit was 30 and the traffic was doing 30. Mike wanted to open it up around the corners and trim his chicken strips. ( ?) LOL biker talk. After some aggressive riding we reach Crescent City for beers and fresh fish and chips at the pier. While at the pier we were attacked by some very aggressive ? Ground squirrels. Mike was scared they were going to climb up his pant leg, he was kicking toward them to try and scare them away. We saw a sea lion sunning on the beach while we were eating. When out of nowhere an old guy was down on all fours checking out Mikes chicken strips. Then on to the Red Wood forest to camp. ...

Day 3

Day 3- Up early again, on the road by 7:30, on our way to Crater Lake, Oregon. Took the advise of some fellow bikers and rode the back roads from John Day to Prinville. Windy, narrow road for 140 km. We only saw 3 motorcycles and 4 cars. Made us think what would happen if we broke down in such a deserted location. Just meant more beer breaks with out interference of State troopers. After Bend we rode on another scenic byway past a ski hill and snowmobile area..There was so much snow they were still snowmobiles heading out. We thought that would be the end of our snow experience. Then on our way along, we thought we might camp at Crater Lake so headed down the highway stopping for supper in a little hick town before the state park. As we rode up towards Crater Lake, we noticed snow on the sides of the road. It got deeper and deeper until the banks were 25 ft high. We took several pics to prove it. It was amazing!! Crater Lake was absolutely beautiful! Its amazing how there can be such a...

Day 2

The weather was awesome today! We left Round Lake this morning at about 7am and headed to Coeur d'Alene for breakfast. We continued riding south through Moscow, Idaho and on to Washington and to Hell's Gate, Oregon. During our ride, we met up with fellow bikers at Joseph Canyon, Idaho who told us of the scenic byway through Oregon. It was full of twisty, foot peg dragging corners for 82 miles. Mike was exhausted when we finally got through to a straight stretch of highway into Prairie City, Oregon. We have set up camp and met another fellow biker with cold beer. Now we are at the local saloon having an awesome prime rib dinner and more beers. Tomorrow we will try to get to Bend, Oregon and beyond. Hopefully to Crater Lake. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad Location: Prairie City, Oregon,United States

Early this morning...

Well we woke up early yesterday morning and headed out on our long adventure to Disneyland for the fourth of July! The weather started out nice and warm but as we headed south of Calgary it took a turn for the worse.!! We pretty much fought rain clouds all the way to Sagle, Idaho. That is where we camped for the night. Beautiful little camp ground on the little Round Lake. Up early again this morning to hit the road to somewhere around Bend, Oregon. We had a few rain drops over night but it wasn't enough to keep us up. So far we have blue skies. Well, it's time to pack up a tent as Joanne should be back from the shower any minute?? One thing about waking up at 6 there's no one in the showers!! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad Location: Coeur d'Alene,United States

Were loaded!

The day is here...

Well the time has come to pack up the motorcycle and head south to warmer climates! Yesterday I booked a camp ground just south of Sandpoint, Idaho for tonight, so were going to have a long first day of riding. Only about 7.5 hours! Which on a motorcycle is a little long. I hope that Joanne is up for it! I know that I sure am! Finally, there's only open road between us and Disneyland. Except for many, many stops along the way to enjoy the beauty of the USA! How sweet it is!! Next post will be from the State of Idaho! Check out the map to the left. We'll be putting drop pins along our journey!

Change of hotel room...go figure!

Well, how do I say this? Someone has changed her mind on our accommodations while in Disneyland! I'm not sure what this is with the Hilton...but yeah were staying in one again! Looks pretty nice and were a little closer to the park which will be a definite bonus after walking the park all day!

New toy for the roadtrip

Well I finally broke down and bought an Ipad. It's a little smaller than the laptop and a little bite faster. It's a lot easier to do updates for the blog and to get information from the web in regards to our trip. Weather, campgrounds, restaurants and scenic byways!! So far I'm really impressed with the speed and performance. Now if I could just Jailbreak it, life would be awesome!!! Location: Newton Dr,Penhold,Canada

Less than a week...

It's less than a week! Just a few days of work left and then it's freedom for a couple of weeks! Location: Newton Dr,Penhold,Canada
