Left our little campground early this morning. Finally washed some laundry. Good thing I didn't listen to Mike and brought lots of clothes. Lol. Started our ride in 25 degree heat again and by 10:00 it was over 30. However, by 1:00 the temp reached a high of 42 degrees. Rode thru orange groves and grape vine wineries. Stopped at a local fruit stand for some fresh peaches and plums. We thought the California Red Woods were huge until we rode through the Sequoia National forest. Unbelievable!!! From there we rode through Yosemite National Park. Waterfalls and huge mountains were amazing. Snow still at the summit and the temp dropped to 8 degrees. The sudden changes in temperature is hard to get used to. Mike looked at the map and realizes that we are a LONG way from home so we rode until 10:30 tonight. Long after dark down here. Good thing I was watching the signs or we would be in Reno by now. Lol. GPS led us astray for the first time. Tomorrow will be another long ride if we ever ...
Yesterday was a different day. Left Disneyland area in the morning, temp was 25. Rode up to the Mohave Desert and the temp was 37 so we made a turn to go up and over a pass for 90 miles. Mistake? Maybe!!! We got up on top and it poured rain on us! Mud slides across the road!! Flash flood? Maybe!!! We pulled over at one point and a guy stopped wanting us to get in his truck cause it was so bad!! Our lane in places was completely flooded with over a foot of water! We sucked it up and kept going, CAREFULLY (temp was 9 and snow in the ditches at the top)! 90 miles took us over 3 hours! A few close calls but we made it! We then stopped at a little bar in the middle of nowhere ( Camp Nelson, CA ) and they treated like celebrities after we told them that we were from Canada. It was pretty cool!! Rode another 30 miles and got a campground! Oh and the temp last night riding in to Springville, California was 39 at 730 and almost dark!! To HOT to ride!!! Sent from my iPhone
